Got the Neodymium Blues?
We’ve got the Cure
No doubt about it, Neodymium is a great material for compression driver magnet structures. Low weight, extremely high energy and superior bandwidth all combine to make Neodymium based permanent magnets the material of choice. Unfortunately, the price of Neodymium has increased to the point where it’s even difficult to purchase.
At P Audio we saw this trend coming and invested many hours in optimized ferrite designs. We’ve even added alternate and lighter weight material in sections of the magnetic circuit where very little magnetic energy was focused.
The results are the NEW SD Series drivers. The SD 75BF, SD 63BF and SD 44BF all feature superb output to weight ratios and offer excellent alternatives to the traditional, and now wildly expensive, Neodymium.
Although the new SD series optimized ferrite designs require slightly different passive or active crossover EQ, they offer the same response linearity and performance as their Neo counterparts. Reduced weight and reduced diameter and thickness but great efficiency and linearity make these new SD drivers truly superior performers.
We’ve also done a great deal with our low frequency designs as well and employed the same techniques to reduce weight while maintaining excellent performance.
